The Problem

A new cantilever structure was required to be designed and installed on a client’s offshore facility. This cantilever structure enabled the relocation of the office facilities and generators to make room for drilling campaigns.

 

As the facility was operational, no hot work was permitted and the client requested that the structure could be detatched and lifted out of position when required.

The Solution

  • A full site laser scan survey was undertaken to determine the as built geometry of the existing structure.
  • 3D modelling was integrated with the laser scan data and full FEA stress analysis was carried out on the new cantilever deck including blast analysis when the office was relocated to the new deck.
  • The structure was designed with to be bolted on to the existing facility.
  • 3rd party verification and approval of the design was conducted by DNV.

  • The laser scan data integrated with CAD ensured that the fabricated structure integrated seamlessly onto the existing facility.
  • The modular design enables the facility to adapt as required to the current workscopes.
